Wormwood (chiba)

A plant known and prized since ancient times, it was held in high regard by Arab physicians. In the 19th century, absinthe liqueur was a fashionable drink in France, but it was banned by a decree issued in 1915 because of its toxicity. In Morocco, wormwood is grown in gardens almost everywhere, and is mainly used as an infusion to flavour tea. In small doses, the plant aids digestion and is a vermifuge, an antiseptic and an appetite stimulant.
