Navel orange

Navel oranges include several varieties of orange. They are characterised by a small growth at the top of the orange that looks a bit like a belly button – hence the name "navel". A small embryonic fruit forms inside the orange. Navel oranges also differ from other groups by their small number of seeds, or none at all. They are dessert oranges, best eaten raw, very juicy and fragrant. They are also sometimes used for juice, jams and pastries.
